UK Residential School Trips

Ford Castle – the activity centre of kings – is a Medieval castle set in the rolling countryside of Northumberland, with challenging activities hidden within the grounds. We provide group activity holidays for children and young adults who will adventure and explore their way into outdoor learning as they enjoy activity sessions in our fun and supportive yet exciting environment. With our stunning scenery as your backdrop, the history of Ford Castle comes to life as you make your own! In our opinion, we are the most iconic schools’ activity centre in the country.

Our unique setting allows young people to stay in the castle, play in the grounds and learn outside the classroom. The ropes courses, zip wire, archery and canoeing lessons are just a few of the active sessions we provide. Our friendly staff will design a stay according to your own specifications. Our on site schoolrooms allow classes in modules of science, geography and history and we use the surrounding countryside, rivers and evolving ecosystems for field study. We even organise group excursions to study places of interest; Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne, and Edinburgh are popular choices. A prime location for your UK Residential School Trips.

Steeped in history, the castle itself has belonged to the Lord Joicey family since 1907 and sits on the Ford and Etal Estates. In previous eras it has been home to the Delaval family and the Heron family. It’s most famous resident was King James IV of Scotland and his bedroom is now one of our dormitories. It has been operated since 1956 as an Outdoor Education Centre, first by Northumberland County Council and since 2012 by the Château Beaumont Group of companies. You can rest assured you will have a safe, friendly, educational and fun time at Ford Castle the ideal location for your Residential School Trip.
